Shockwave therapy being applied to a shoulder

Understanding shockwave therapy

During shockwave therapy, high energy radial pressure waves (RPV) pulses are delivered to the painful area of your body. This stimulates the growth of new blood vessels and promotes fast recovery of all soft tissues, nerves, muscles and ligaments, including bone and joint pain.

  • Improves circulation and new tissue growth
  • Breaks down calcific deposits and fibrous muscles
  • Reverses chronic inflammation and pain
  • Stimulates collagen production
  • Encourages tendon repair
  • Repairs damaged tissue
  • Improves muscle tone
  • Faster healing

Ongoing chronic pains

This type of treatment is particularly effective at relieving pain in tendons, including ailments such as jogger’s heel and calcific tendonitis. If walking is too painful, or you find yourself holding onto your pain or limping, shockwave therapy could be the answer.

As with all our treatments, you will be carefully assessed beforehand to check that shockwave therapy will be suitable and effective for your particular problem.

Safe and simple

Shockwave therapy is a risk-free procedure. You may find the treatment itself uncomfortable, but it will not be painful. The pain relief you’ll enjoy afterwards will more than make up for the brief discomfort.

There’s no need to worry about complications or reactions, as there’s no surgery involved, no anaesthesia and no drugs. You will be in complete control at all times. There aren’t even any unpleasant side effects – just relief from your long-term pain.

Course and cost

If you are recommended shockwave therapy to relieve your pain, your course of treatment will take place over three sessions. Each session lasts 15-20 minutes.

Want to benefit from a 10% discount? Prepay for all three sessions in one go for a substantial saving.

Shockwave therapy is covered by all major medical insurance companies, including Bupa, AXA PPP, WPA, and Simply Health.

We’re proud to be the only clinic on the South Coast to be able to provide shockwave therapy.

Award winning clinic
Over 9,000 satisfied patients

I had ongoing left hand and finger pains for two years, diagnosed with carpal tunnel syndrome and duptreyns contracture and offered surgery by my MD. After two shockwave therapy treatments, my hand was more mobile and straight before it kept 'locking' with no tingling nerve pains. On completing three treatments, I can use my left hand fully after such a long time. Pre-paying for all treatment in one go was a great saving.
